I can’t see clearly now, the entry’s gone,
I can’t get past obstacles in my way
Gone are the open windows that I had climbed
I wanna see the tiles (tiles), tiles (tiles)
New shiny tiles
I wanna see the paint (paint), paint (paint)
New shiny paint

Oh no I can’t make it now, the doors are locked
All of the openings have disappeared
Where is the door key I’ve been prayin’ for
I wanna see the lights (lights), lights (lights)
New shiny lights

Ahem….

The last few weeks we’ve been dropping by the house during the week so that we can get a sneak peek at our house while someone is there working. On weekends the place is locked up tight (which is nice I must say!) We occasionally swing by on the weekend still, but of course we can’t get in unless there is someone there which makes it a little frustrating to take photos! Still we managed to get a couple of happy snaps on the weekend of our tiles in progress and our shiny new garage door! I love it!

No house news today. But we have something far more exciting than that! A glimpse at our yet-to-be-named baby :)

Well the excitement never stops at Lot number 3! It’s hard to believe that we could be any more excited than we were last week…. but… we are!

We were lucky enough to drop in whilst our Site Supervisor was there… and even though we hadn’t made an appointment to see him (which we’re supposed to…sorry!) he was kind enough to show us a around the place and point out a few of the things that we may not have noticed that have been done. I must say, I’m very impressed with how thorough he is! He pointed out a number of things that he has personally seen to being changed and/or fixed. It’s nice to know that someone who has our best interests in mind is looking after our place! So a big thumbs up to him!

We had a couple of questions about some very minor issues, and he was more than happy to see to them being rectified. To be honest, it’s been pretty hard to find anything wrong with the place at all…..and believe me I’ve been trying!

So anyway… it’s hard to believe, but since last time we dropped by, the painter has finished, the tiler is in and tiling splash backs, the electician is in and doing power, lights, TV etc, our basins are installed, the stone benchtops have all been installed, the garage door to the backyard has had locks put on it, the render has had another coat and is ready for colour AND we now have a garage door!

All this since Saturday! There would be more photos, but we felt a bit too much like tourists with the site supervisor there :D

These guys certainly don’t mess around. The painters look like they’re almost done already! The ceiling is all done and the walls look like they need another coat (maybe two?). All the woodwork has had the enamel gloss done as well. This week apparently the tilers will be in, which will mean most of the floors and wet areas should be done pretty soon!

Probably the biggest change this week wasn’t actually in our house, but in the main road!

If painting and tiling is finished this week, which may be wishful thinking, we’d then be down to electrical/carpets/appliances left! Wow!

(I realised that I’d been forgetting to my stupid images up!)

I couldn’t resist, so I had to go out and meet our cabinets! Now I’m back with photos! :D

Cabinets, benches, built in robes, vanities etc are all in. Unfortunately the painters are already in and have covered most of the stuff on plastic, including all the windows :)

Also, looks like they’re getting ready to do the render. The corners of the brickwork all have a metal strip running the height of the wall, and there is a heap of foam in the garage for the few infills that require it (the garage, alfresco and lounge windows).

Just as we were leaving the waterproofing guy turned up to paint blue stuff all over our bathrooms as well :)

It turns out that our place was supposed to be finished fixing on Friday but the cabinet maker had some “issue” and so didn’t get to it. He is now apparently finished, and NOW they’ve finished the fixing stage!

Very excited!

We’re heading out to Thuy’s folks for dinner tonight, so we will swing by and take a look at all our nice cabinets. Hopefully we’ll have some photos of it isn’t too dark! :)

No they haven’t finished fixing stage :) Someone from Urbanedge has us confused with number 1.

Such a shame!!

Oh well… they’ve made good progress anyway, besides…. we thought fixing stage being complete was too good to be true!

Here are a HEAP of photos :)

ZOMG NO, SERIOUSLY! WHAT THE *BLEEEEEEP*???????? ALREADY!?!?!?!??!

WE JUST GOT AN EMAIL FROM URBANEDGE SAYING FIXING STAGE WILL BE FINISHED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were thrilled with the progress last time we visited the house, but were perhaps a little disappointed that we couldn’t get in and show the folks around. We took the other side of the family through yesterday, and whilst on the surface not a lot appears to have happened, on closer inspection they’ve done quite a bit in the last week.

For starters, the roof looks to be now pretty close to finished. All the points are done, and it looks like they’ve been pulling up bits of tiles to finish off the gutters as well. The walls are now all full bricked all the way around and whilst we’re still waiting for the sills to be done, everything else looks like it is pretty much done outside. It’s not until I look back at the photos that I realise that they’ve also plastered up under the eaves, and look to be prepping the garage lintel for rendering as well! So hopefullythat will happen this week too.

Inside, all the cornices are up, and they’re in the process of doing the skirting boards. The plaster is all filled, patched, puttied and ready to be painted.

The alfresco is now pretty much done, with a roof and the external roof supports removed..also looking like its being prepped for render and paint.

The floors are all hideously dirty… but we assume they’ll clean those before they do the floors :D

So whilst on the surface it looks like not much has happened, after a good look around they’ve been really quite busy! We still aren’t officially at lockup, but they’re already quite a way into doing the fixing! Go Urbanedge!

Well we’re now at lock up…. well, the building is locked at least. Not sure if that is the same thing! There is still some roof tiling to be completed and the bricks on the south side aren’t quite complete, but its very very close to being complete! There is a bit of water inside the building, which is never good, but we don’t think it will be a problem. It is just a result of them having not quite finished the capping on the roof, and we’ve had an awful lot of rain over the last couple of days!
