Lock up

We were thrilled with the progress last time we visited the house, but were perhaps a little disappointed that we couldn’t get in and show the folks around. We took the other side of the family through yesterday, and whilst on the surface not a lot appears to have happened, on closer inspection they’ve done quite a bit in the last week.

For starters, the roof looks to be now pretty close to finished. All the points are done, and it looks like they’ve been pulling up bits of tiles to finish off the gutters as well. The walls are now all full bricked all the way around and whilst we’re still waiting for the sills to be done, everything else looks like it is pretty much done outside. It’s not until I look back at the photos that I realise that they’ve also plastered up under the eaves, and look to be prepping the garage lintel for rendering as well! So hopefullythat will happen this week too.

Inside, all the cornices are up, and they’re in the process of doing the skirting boards. The plaster is all filled, patched, puttied and ready to be painted.

The alfresco is now pretty much done, with a roof and the external roof supports removed..also looking like its being prepped for render and paint.

The floors are all hideously dirty… but we assume they’ll clean those before they do the floors :D

All of our internal doors have arrived, and are ready for installation!

The windows have had the joinery around the outside of the frames…and again, everything looks like it’s getting ready to paint.

So whilst on the surface it looks like not much has happened, after a good look around they’ve been really quite busy! We still aren’t officially at lockup, but they’re already quite a way into doing the fixing! Go Urbanedge!

What a difference a week makes!

We were thrilled to come back from holidays and have a frame, but only a week later to have a fully tiled roof, with all the gutters complete and a substantial amount of brickwork done is just ACE!

At the moment the brick work is just around the front of the house and down the side of the garage. There is a single course at the back of the garage, so it looks like they’re doing that next. The work all looks very nice, with all the right expansion gaps, ties and nice raking. All looks pretty good. Mind you, I’m a programmer… not a brickie!

The roof tiles appear to mostly done, with only the caps on the top left to finish off by the looks of it. Of course the big surprise is UNDER the tiles.

The heating unit has already been installed and all the vents(?) are up in the roof going to all the separate rooms.

If that wasn’t enough to get us excited, all the wiring in the house has been laid out, along with gas lines, water, tv and telephone cables! As an extra added bonus we even have a couple of baths!

If i wasn’t so busy with work, I’d head to the block and deliver the builders a slab of beer. At this rate, we’ll be at lock up in no time!

EDIT: We’ve just heard from our lovely CSR that we should be at lock up THIS WEEK!!
